General Questions
What is Epoch Health?
Epoch Health is a clinician-led practice focused on metabolic health, hormone optimization, and fertility support. Our goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care that helps patients understand their bodies and build sustainable health plans. We work alongside your existing healthcare team -- including primary care providers, OB/GYNs, fertility specialists, and endocrinologists -- to support your overall care.
Can Epoch Health replace my primary care provider?
No.
Epoch Health is designed to complement your existing medical care, not replace it. We specialize in metabolic health, hormone care, and fertility support. You should maintain a relationship with a primary care provider for routine screenings, acute illness, and comprehensive medical care.
Why does Epoch Health use a membership model?
Our membership model allows us to provide ongoing guidance and support, rather than limiting care to short, isolated visits.
This structure allows patients to have:
-
Consistent access to their provider
-
Ongoing plan adjustments
-
Messaging support between visits
-
A more personalized approach to care
We designed our pricing to be accessible -- similar to the cost of a monthly gym membership or subscription service.
Why don't you accept insurance?
Insurance-based care often limits the time providers can spend with patients and restricts the types of services that can be offered.
By operating outside of insurance, we're able to:
-
Spend more time with each patient
-
Provide individualized treatment plans
-
Offer ongoing support between visits
However, patients may still use insurance for labs, medications, and imaging if their insurance plan allows.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
In many cases, yes.
Many patients are able to use HSA or FSA funds for consultation visits, memberships, labs, and medications. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend confirming with your benefits provider.
Appointments
How long are appointments?
Appointments vary depending on the type of visit.
Typical visit lengths include:
-
Initial membership visit: 60-90 minutes
-
Consultation visit: approximately 25 minutes
-
Follow-up visits: typically 15-30 minutes depending on your needs
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
We understand that life happens. Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice.
Each patient may cancel or reschedule up to three appointments per year with proper notice without a fee.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation charge. Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, late arrivals may result in shortened visit time.
Membership and Payments
When are membership payments due?
Membership fees are billed monthly on the same date your membership begins.
For example:
-
If your membership starts on March 11, future payments will occur on the 11th of each month.
-
If your membership begins on the 31st, payments will occur on the 30th in months without a 31st.
Is the consultation fee refundable?
Consultation fees are non-refundable. However, if you decide to join a membership within 30 days of your consultation, the consultation fee can be applied toward your membership.
Do I need a membership to receive ongoing care?
Yes.
An active membership is required for ongoing medical care, including treatment plans, prescription management, and medication refills.
Memberships may be cancelled at any time with 30 days’ notice.
There are as needed options for non-members listed on our pricing page.
Labs, Medications, and Supplements
Are labs, medications, or supplements included in membership pricing?
Because each patient’s plan is unique, labs, medications, and supplements are generally not included in membership pricing.
However:
-
Our Complete Care membership includes quarterly laboratory testing for convenience.
-
Members receive guidance on where to obtain labs and medications; all membership levels include significant cash-pay discounts for labs.
-
Top-tier members receive a 20% supplement discount.
Can labs, imaging, or medications be billed through my insurance?
Yes, in many cases.
We can send lab orders, imaging orders, and prescriptions to the location of your choice. If you prefer to use your insurance benefits, you may choose a facility or pharmacy that accepts your insurance.
Patients also have access to their medical documentation within their patient portal, which includes the medical indications for their care plan.
Do you prescribe medications for weight loss or hormone therapy?
Yes — when medically appropriate.
Depending on your individual needs, treatment plans may include:
-
Oral medications
-
Injectable medications (including GLP-1 therapies)
-
Hormone therapies such as testosterone replacement
All treatments are prescribed only after a thorough evaluation and discussion of risks, benefits, and alternatives.
Do you prescribe peptides?
In certain situations, yes.
However, we only work with legally regulated compounding pharmacies (503A or 503B). We do not recommend or support the use of research-grade peptides or products purchased from unregulated sources.
Our goal is always to provide the most current, evidence-based information so patients can make informed decisions about their health.
Telehealth and Communication
How do I contact Epoch Health between visits?
Patients can contact us by:
-
Calling our main office number
-
Sending a secure message through the patient portal
-
Because we are often with patients during the day, responses may not be immediate, but we do our best to respond within 24 hours during business days.
What if I have a medical emergency?
Epoch Health is not an emergency service.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
Is telehealth secure?
We use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms to protect your health information.
However, all electronic communication carries some inherent risk. While we take every reasonable measure to protect your privacy, no electronic system can guarantee absolute security.
Telehealth services are voluntary, and patients may withdraw consent at any time.
Minors
Do you see patients under 18?
Yes, with parental consent.
A parent or legal guardian must provide consent for telehealth services and will need to be present for part of the visit to confirm consent for treatment.
Ending Care
What happens if I decide to stop my membership?
Memberships may be cancelled at any time with 30 days’ notice.
If a membership is cancelled without the required notice or due to non-payment, a $200 cancellation fee may apply.
Can Epoch Health end the care relationship?
While uncommon, there are situations where we may need to discontinue care.
This may occur if:
-
Follow-up appointments are repeatedly missed
-
Required lab work is not completed
-
Treatment recommendations are not followed
-
Communication breaks down in a way that prevents safe care
